June Said:

We Answered:

Yes, it's a permanent tax scheme, so it will stay in for at least as long as this Government.

Marilyn Said:

Should a notebook PC be eligible under the education tax refund bill?

We Answered:

YES! YES! YES!

A computer is ESSENTIAL when undertaking any kind of study, whether it be in high school or university. The government must support Australian students and their interaction with the internet for research and and other activities relating to their education.

This is especially important in tertiary studies, although (as far as I understand) university students are not eligible to participate in the education tax refund bill.

ALL students should be allowed to experience the benefits of this revolutionary portable technology - no matter how much money you own, what you study and where you study. To provide this is truly the start of an 'education revolution.'

Kirk Said:

Am i still eligible for Education Tax Refund?

We Answered:

The education tax refund is usually claimed by lodging a tax return, and claiming it at label T6. If you do not need to lodge a tax return there is an education tax refund (ETR) claim form to be lodged with the tax office. There is a lot of information on this link on the tax office website and also a link to the ETR claim form if you need it: http://ato.gov.au/individuals/content.as…

If you have already lodged your income tax return for 2009, you will need to claim the refund by requesting an amendment to your tax return. You can find information on lodging an amendment to your tax return here and it must be done in writing: http://ato.gov.au/individuals/content.as…

An ETR claim cannot be lodged online.
