Gender And Education

Eileen Said:

What are some gender issues in Education?

We Answered:

There are some things to consider:

* differences in learning styles b/w boys & girls

* behaviour of boys v's girls

* impact of teacher's gender - abundance of female teachers over male teachers (issues of lack of masculinity & male role models to assist boys in their education - some may say is linked to the educational outcomes of boys).

There are research papers on this.

http://www.aph.gov.au/House/committee/ed…

*http://www.dest.gov.au/archive/schools/p… (this link will give you strategies).

Even though you are aiming for kindi through to yr 6, a teacher's actions during these years is a contributing factor to the way the student is shaped in the future.

hope this helps.

Ralph Said:

What are your thoughts on single-gender education?

We Answered:

Honestly, I'm for it. I really do think there are benefits, I don't encourage total and complete isolation from each other. co-ed recess and lunch and maybe one or two lessons a day together, sure...but for the most of the educational process sure. My testimony for this? AP english, 2 boys, and 15 girls, discussions and literature was interpreted from a VERY different angle for me.

?How do the roles played by religion, gender, and education help in forming an American’s political outlook?

We Answered:

Our laws are based on Judeo christian morals and values, gender, i dont think so much tahts been part of teh equality thing so its a bit convoluted and faded out.

education is huge.

Unfortunately education has become indoctrinated in a lot of cases, and people dont know how to think freely anymore. their programmed, and in the human nature to be accepted, they take it for face value, instead of being taught to question authority and find out for themselves.

Reginald Said:

How would you say "story of a sponge's gender education" in German?

We Answered:

die Geschichte der Geschlechtsbildung eines Schwammes

by the way, "Spongebob squarepants" is actually "Spongebob Schwammkopf" in german. Schwammkopf means sponge-head. I was a foreign exchange student near Berlin and I used to watch Spongebob with my hostbrother. : )

Miriam Said:

i need to find stats info. on how race, age, education, and gender affect earnings. where should i search?

We Answered:

I'm not sure how big you want your data to be, but you'll probably have to pay some pretty big bucks to get that kind of information. It's why large companies pay so much for demographics reasearch and have you fill out surveys all the time.

I'd recommend researching 5 completely different occupations and 3 different levels within the occupation.

For example:

Interview 3 teachers from 3 schools, each prinicpal and the janitorial staff.

Find 4 other professions and do the same. Interview more people if you need a larger sample.

Offer to enter them into a drawing to encourage more to participate in your survey.

this information is very very valuable and sensitive so make sure that you conduct purely confidential surveys without names so you don't risk exposing somebody's personal information.
