How competitive is it to get into a doctoral program? We Answered:
I'm not sure about your exact program, but I can just give you my advice from my personal experience. I'm going London School of Economics in October and I feel like I worried for nothing. I would definately look on the program's site and see what the professors research interests are and when you write your admissions essay, try to include at least 2 so when they begin to decide thay can have advisors in mind. Also, if you haven't already, do research in those areas in some way, alot of research is always good. I did my undergrad honors thesis on bisexual women and psychosocial issues when I saw on LSE site they didn't have much research into bisexuality but they were interested in sexuality studies. Try to do something similar, find what they generally research and then find a neglected population within it. Also, GPA is huge, so keep it as high as possible. Other than that, just have a really good admissions essay and I wish you the best of luck, maybe I'll see you in 2008!Theodore Said:
Is London Metropolitan University good for the PGCE Secondary in French? We Answered:
London Metropolitan was created by merging the London Guildhall University with the University of North London a few years ago, and the B'ed and PGCE courses were taught at UNL, so they should be ok. They might still teach it at that campus. They specialise in teaching in inner city schools.Mario Said:
How to find a good primary school in London for my five-year old son?We Answered:
Web sites stated are great for looking up schools. You could also type in ofsted reports and see what comes up, then narrow down by post code etc. The ofsted report give a good indication of the quality of the school, although I would also recommend a visit to any school you are considering. Given that Your son is already five it will be a matter of finding a school with a space! Good schools in london are overs ubscribed.School year starts in September and runs through until July normally. Private schools have longer holidays then state schools normally do.
Some schools have a fter school clubs, breakfast clubs and holiday schemes. These are usually more affordable then the equivalent hours at a child minder - usually £7 per hour in our area. Some of the playschemes are about £3.
Good luck with your studies.

Moving to London In January 2009?We Answered:
it would have been perfect if you could organize your thoughts and put your questions in a bullet format so that it could be answered on e after the other.nevertheless, the following is my intervention:
- there is no real cheap place to live, then you better live close to where you work/study to minimize your transportation cost.
- out of my personal experience, you will need 100 pounds per week per person for livin expenses excluding the accomodation.
- about work, there is 15% unemployment in London, so expect the worse, dont be upset.
- as a student you can work afor 20 hours a week, the wage for this will range from 7 to 10 pounds per hour.
finaly, welcome to London (in jan) and good luck.
cheers.

I am a 26 yo Italian planning to move to London. I would like some career advice? We Answered:
Your age is not a problem at all, I don't know about a publishing companies, however you might have a good chance working in the hotel industry for the language you know it would come very handy then. Maybe this would be a start for you then you will have the time to look for a publishing company if that what you really want.
