I've heard a version of this theory before, but I haven't really investigated it. However, this is what I think about it at the moment:

1) It is too much of a stretch to claim that profit is the reason for the ADHD diagnosis, but companies that profit from it are sure not to stand in its way!

2) You have to realise that Abnormal and Therapeutic Psychology and Psychiatry are full of really stupid women (and some men) -- I am going to write about that some day soon. Even the industry itself has great trouble agreeing on what is abnormal and how to define it. That is not purely to do with the stupidity of the people in the field -- more to do with the role of Psychologists and Psychiatrists in society.

If you are going to talk about the profit motive, you should talk about the role of profit in the decision of people who should know better making a career of doing futile things in the pretence that it is therapeutic, in some way.

3) I would like to see the correlation between absence of the natural father and a diagnosis of ADHD in the son -- whether because of solo motherhood or blended families. ADHD never used to exist, and fatherless families have increased astronomically as well.

4) Feminists dominate society, and especially the field of Psychology, so there is a conflict of interest in Feminist Psychologists which prevents them from diagnosing ADHD as being a result of Feminism.

There are two different laws allowing for homeschooling in Michigan... one requires the parent use or be a certified teacher.,.. but the other does not. The website you found seems to be telling a 'half-truth' to dupe people into staying with the public school system.

If you are looking at this document: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/Info20… notice that it is speaking of 'nonpublic and homeschools'. The 'nonpublic' schools (including 'nonpublic' schools in homes) require certified teachers. You want to be looking at *this* document on the less restrictive type of homeschooling: http://www.michigan.gov/documents/MDE-P2… Don't call your homeschool a 'nonpublic' school and you are good to go!

You might go to mich.gov there might be an answer there, you could also e-mail your senator or representive from that sight and ask. Other then that I am not sure unless you get in touch with the Department of Education itself and ask. That can also be found on that web sight.
