ya the MET is not something you do good in, it is to pay for school... the application process is pretty standard you fill in the blanks and hope your good enough. they dont ask how you are gonna pay for it. so that doesnt matter. in my experiance most michigan schools are not hard to get into. unless your looking at u of m maybe state might be a little tough, but for the most part wmu, lssu, nmu, tech, eastern are all pretty easy going off my experiance and that of my friends.

if you have genuine concern for your nephew's safety, then by law you have to report it to the local child protection services.

document everything you've mentioned - audio/video recordings, notes, photos, etc - and hope to heck you get custody of the child (from what you've said, however, odds are you won't - the parents sound like high-risk so CPS might want to place him with a secure foster home where the parents can't find him and abscond).

but then, the important thing is to get your nephew out of a bad situation, not to get custody, right?

This is the 5th question that I have answered for someone wanting to be homeschooled... Your dilemma is the same as most of the other persons that have wrote in.....

You are forced to be in a classroom that is dumbed down and moving at a snail's pace. So now you hate school and are doing badly, because the Public school system is failing most of its best and brightest by this method of teaching to the slowest child in an over-sized classroom by unqualified, burnt out teachers..... It does not work and you are miserable......

It is not your parent's responsibility to keep the public school system employed. It is their responsibility TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE BEST EDUCATION THAT THEY CAN GET FOR YOU.....

Please read what I wrote on the homeschooling site here, the comment I made to "How do I convince my mom let me homeschool"....... It is very long, however, it tells it all about homeschool education and public school education...... Please read because it takes too long to retype it all, and you are the second person that I have wrote about homeschooling in the last 15 minutes regarding the almost same problem as yours..... You need to have a better option for your education and your parents need to open their eyes to the truth about the public school system.....

Other option is that because of your age, you could go to college, say a junior college and get dual credits and you will love college compared to Public High School....... Better options are out there for you..... Good Luck.......

Addition: All the thumbs down that we are getting are from the non-homeschoolers that are trying to get you not to consider homeschool. They come on this site and give thumbs down to everyone that promotes homeschool.....

Gov. Granholm (Dem.) has a republican leadership in Lansing. They eliminated the single business tax (about 1 Billion annually) they have not figured out how to replace that money. they will not work with her.
