Majoring in Music Performance and Music Education. What colleges should I look at?

We Answered:

Hmm SUNY Fredonia is great for education..it's very close to Lake Erie! ...Florida State University is also a great school - it's near the beach somewhat!
Also University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), close to Lake St. Claire and Lake Erie.

Those come to the top of my mind that fill your criteria. Good luck!

I need a list of music colleges or conservatories that offer a degree on music education.?

We Answered:

There is a National Association for Music Education. Their website is:
http://www.menc.org/

There is also a Music Teacher's National Association:
http://www.mtnacertification.org/Home/ta…

You might try doing an online search using the terms "music education undergraduate degree programs" and research what comes up.

Music Education: What colleges should I look at?

We Answered:

I would look at in-state Public universities first. As a teacher, you'll never make the big bucks, so a 40K/year education shouldn't even be considered. But, take into account scholarships as well. There are many schools that have excellent Music Ed degrees there in Ohio. Bowling Green and Youngstown come to mind for me, as I've met many excellent teachers from both of those Universities. University of Cincinnati is an excellent school (along with CIM) if you want to be a music performer. So, if your main goal is to perform, and you're getting an education degree to fall back on (which I'm not judging, but I think is an okay way to approach it) then UC and CIM should be at the top of your list. Someone told me Miami's program is more based on composition and stuff, but I don't know how reputable the source was. The best thing you can do is visit all the schools you're interested in, talk to professors and students (and graduates who are working) and pick which one fits your style best.
