Google NEA and then click on the first return. At the top it says "Join NEA." There you have to click on your state and choose the type of membership. The cost varies I believe from state to state.

I do not know the initial fee for membership and the site does not tell you until you actually fill in the information. My annual dues are around $600.00 if that helps you at all. I am an active teacher.

the NEA is a teacher union...not govt run or non-profit...

they lobby for the rights of teachers...

if govt funding did not exist, it wouldn't matter, they would keep fighting for better pay and better student to teacher ratios...

While the NEA is *supposed* to be an independent association, it's members are often Democratic because most schools require teachers to become members of a union. Union members are generally Democratic (not necessarily liberal) because the Dems are seen as the "working man"s party."
