I do believe that the serial killers or rapists have the right of education. But what are the advantages?

We Answered:

they have the right to an education???????? free at that???????/ while their victim is either dead... or seriously scared for life? are you kidding me??? the disadvantages... say the learn law in jail.. well the next time they commit the same crime... they not only don't have to pay for a lawyer, but they get to use thier free education that our tax dollars paid for. plus they could get away with murder this time. why should i pay for their education when they are determental to society?? i have enough to worry about paying my 40000 dollar tution to put them behind bars (criminal justice) i dont need to pay for their 40000 dollar tution also.

Is higher education a right or a privilege?

We Answered:

Constitution be damned, rights are inherent. We have them by virtue of being alive, whether they are legal or illegal. Some might even say they are divinely given, but that's a different discussion.

Personally, I don't believe education is a 'right' at all. Education can be seen as a good thing to force upon society, since an educated populace is needed to properly maintain a democracy such as ours. But that does not make it a 'right'. By that logic, since the US has the means ($) we should try give education freely to everyone on the planet, since we would then have a moral obligation to these people. But we don't view education as a right. It is a privilege.

Some people get confused in the discussion of rights. Just because we choose to educate everyone in the US til the age of 18, doesn't mean that we really believe it is a right. Most of us see it as a good thing that we can do for others. We also provide postal service and roads (virtually) free of charge. Are those things 'rights'? Are we born with the right to expect speedy delivery of packages?

If I'm not enjoying my job, Is going back to education right for me at 23 years of age?

We Answered:

At 23 the world is your oyster.
If you dont know what you would enjoy doing as a job then theres not much point in training for it. Its always worth getting more educatoin, start by working out what your passionate about and how you could get a career doing that, then in the mean time study something thats quite broad based so you can always branch into something different later on.

for example, I'm a bricklayer, i studied as a means to an end and dont "love" my job, but its ok. I later studied a national certificate in construction which has given me a step up qualification that means i can now study architecture, computer aided design and surveying amongst other things. one qualification - several options.

this I feel would be the best option for you, study something broad based, like science, which could lead into specialising in any of the sciences.

Oh, by the way, it may be many years before you figure out what you actually like doing and the best career for you may not be something you think of right now.

its tricky aint it!
