Accreditation is not necessary, especially in a homeschool. Also, many of the "accredited" programs are not legitimate-check the accrediting board and where those accreditations are good at (you will be surprised).

Many colleges actively recruit homeschoolers because of their ability to easily matriculate-homeschooling is more similar to college style learning than public school is.

Of course, higher level courses look better on a transcript (of course, if you have good grades in those higher level courses). And college level courses will look much better than any of those so-called accredited institutions. You will also, in that manner, already have college credits accrued-you may be able to start at a four year institution with enough credits to enter as a sophomore or junior.

I am not saying to definitely avoid the accredited institutions-there ARE some good, legitimate ones if you choose to go that route. Just do not do it based solely on those accreditations. True homeschooling also offers much more freedom than they do, which is another thing to consider.

well i haven't graduated from ashworth yet but i plan to (i'm in the general deploma program.) Ashworth High School is regionally accredited by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) which is one of the major accrediting agencies in the United States and their diplomas are accepted nation wide.
