Art Competitions For High School Students

Bruce Said:

Has any one heard of Art Builds Florida?

We Answered:

Yes I won it awhile back in high school though I had Learning and Wellness. I don't have any ideas off the top of my head for you but look on the internet for some ideas, it is a very inspiring place. What I find is always good is incorporating the wildlife in Florida into your artwork as a symbolism for whatever you are doing.

Marvin Said:

I'm a high-school student residing in the Los Angeles area looking for Art Competitions.?

We Answered:

Ask your college counselor, that's the best way to find out, they should know.

You can also Google: art competitions for high school students, and go through the results. Here are a few I am aware of.

Congressional Art Competition http://www.house.gov/house/ArtGuidelines… (A friend of my son's won this.)

Alliance for Young Artists & Writers http://www.artandwriting.org/

Nasa Art Contest http://artcontest.larc.nasa.gov/

Are you interning/volunteering at any of the museums? Although most require you to be 16 or 18 now, there are programs through school where you might be able to if you aren't 16 yet. But you're going to need a lot more if you're even thinking of applying to an Ivy, like Harvard. Ahem. (My dh participates in the admissions process for his Ivy alma mater, and my son is also a rising sophomore, so I know what it takes.)

Good luck!

Theresa Said:

high school art and fashion help?

We Answered:

Any coursework offered would help.

As far as internships, they would be difficult to find at her age. I would tell her to look for opportunities to volunteer, for example, if someone were holding a charity fashion show. That shows both dedication and experience, but also the volunteerism looks great on applications.

Or better yet, maybe she could organize her own fashion show for charity.

Mabel Said:

Art competitions for youth in Victoria?

We Answered:

you said you are 9 years old. so how will you be competing for high school aged students? don't make sense to me. Maybe "Victoria" where you lived got it's website that you can look it up to see the upcoming events.

Linda Said:

SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITIONS?

We Answered:

You can get info about such college scholarships and grants online here - scholarships.onlinewebshop.net

Julia Said:

Art Extracurricular activities for high school students?

We Answered:

There are art competitions that you can enter, but one thing that I would suggest, along the lines of the other poster, is volunteering. Call local elementary schools and and volunteer there by painting murals at the school, or volunteering in the art room.

Beth Said:
