Art Projects For High School Students

Billie Said:

What are some REALLY Fun art projects for high school students

We Answered:

have then close their eyes and put on some current music, have their hand (with marker) just flow all over the page. when the song is over- not tooo long- they have to fill in all those spaces with their favorite colors and line the lines in with paint. makes a nice geographic peice. that's what I remember most about HS. another one is for you to stand in front of the class and say curve, straight, zigzag and they have to follow your commands on the paper. then they have to makesomething out of all the mess they just made. pretty neat, here is a website that will probibly help you out more.http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/le…

Allison Said:

can you suggest a play for some high school students?

We Answered:

If you want something really funny, but not something dopey, how about some theater of the absurd?

You could do some Eugene Ionesco, he's back in fashion now that Exit the King is suddenly in revival off Broadway, and getting rave reviews. I don't actually know that play too well, but he also wrote two really funny ones that I love - "Rhinoceros" and "The Bald Soprano" (which has nothing to do with baldness or singing in any way, btw!)

Both of these are marvelous and witty. Give it a try!

Another more recent playwrite who also played with language in a terrifically funny manner is David Ives. He wrote a collection of short plays called "All in the Timing" that are so funny. Each of the short plays is about 10 minutes long. The funniest ones are "The Philadelphia" "The Universal Language" and (my favorite) "Sure Thing" Any of these short plays would make a wonderful piece for your group to work on. (Though I should warn you that there are only two or three characters per short play.)

Henry Said:

Do you think Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews is appropriate for High school students?

We Answered:

I think high school students are highly underestimated in comparison to the rest of the population. And books that seem inappropriate should be read in school so that students can learn to see the value in such books beyond the surface content, and will in future be able to read books like this meaningfully.

Or else they will end up being "passed around" like deebakes remembers.

Alfred Said:

I need good, creative ideas for an art project to go with "The Scarlet Letter" for a high school student.

We Answered:

I made a model of the town out of Popsicle sticks. I guess for the whole A thing, you could make an A, and on the inside put different stuff like a rosebush, a prison, or a scaffold.
