Community Service Opportunities For High School Students

Louis Said:

If I was a terrible high school student can I redeem myself in college?

We Answered:

Honestly, no one cares about high school. If you go to a community college and transfer after your Associate degree, what the university is going to ask you is what you did while in college. Once you finish with you bachelor degree only the first employer will maybe care about your GPA and it would help that you have something higher than a 3.0 in university so you can get a masters degree if you really want to.

Don't over stress about high school, try to recover yourself and start Community College once you feel you are psychologically ready. One thing that helps in college is that you will be studying hopefully a career that you are passionated about and you will have the motivation that as soon as you graduate, you will be doing the coolest thing in the world.

Intern or job opportunity for high school student in business, economics, politics, biology or chemistry?

We Answered:

Find the very best looking place for your resume and go there. If you offer to work for free, you can probably get into anywhere. If you get paid, you will end up doing very boring clerical work and not learn anything.

Right now the experience of a great company or government office is more valuable than $8/hr

Since your in SD, try Qualcomm.

Douglas Said:

What kind of extracurricular activities should i do if i want to be a medical student?

We Answered:

Woah! one step at a time...

Med School is not really going to care what you did in high school besides graduate.

What 100% of your energy should be on now, is impressing a potential University. You're already on the right track, so long as you're getting top SAT/ACT scores and getting high grades in class, extracurricular activities will make you look nice and well rounded .

I suggest next year, join student body government. Run for vice-president, so Senior year you can run for President. Universities eat that up.

I wouldn't hold your breath on getting a job that will give you medical experience, Unless you have a college degree or some kind of cert. Best you can hope for is the same work you volunteer for at the Hospital right now.
(grunt work)

So yes, I'm sure you'll do great, you sound really driven. Again, take it one step at a time.

Good luck!

Where can I find a group volunteering opportunity in the Greater Boston Area?

We Answered:

You might try Boston Cares... it is a team oriented charity that puts on events to tackle needs in the boston Area. Their Youth Service Day is approaching. The Greater Boston Food Bank would be another great opportunity for your group as the take large groups of up to 100 at a time. the Boston Do-Good Chanel connects people with local causes.
