Episcopal High School
Gwendolyn Said:
Should I go to Debakey, Bellaire, HSPVA, St.Agnes, or Episcopal High School? (Houston, Texas)? We Answered:
I go to Saint Agnes, and i will be a senior next year.so, all of these choices are pretty good. Good job on getting accepted to St. Agnes, Debakey, and HSPVA!
Debakey is not a sports school. Go there if you want to become a doctor. Bellaire is okay. they have a good marching band though. their academics are what you make of it.
the school for you is st agnes, and i am not just saying that because i go there. this is the place to go. we have MEAN academics and sports. we go to state in every sport, and our dance team is one of the best (Remix dance team). If you want to do dance and have a good education (along wiht many other sports) then go to SAA.
I'm warning you though, it's a challenging school. Don't slack off freshman year because it is easy...it WILL get harder.
best of luck! you can do it!

which high school should i go?We Answered:
Congratulations on your acceptances! We went through this last year, but luckily my son knew exactly which school he wanted to attend from day one. He made me send regrets to the other schools immediately. The schools are similar enough to each other, all have good solid academics, but aren't extremely rigorous like Flintridge Prep, Harvard-Westlake or Poly Pasadena. So I would choose the school that feels like the right fit, and if one doesn't stand out, the one that is closest to your home. You're going to have lots of homework, after school sports practice and/or arts rehearsal, so the less time spent commuting in the car, the better.
Do you want to go to an all-girls school? Interestingly, there has been a trend toward single-sex schools with the kids I know. Two to five years ago maybe a few kids from the private K - 8 my son attended would have gone to single-sex schools, but last year and this year, many more are, even though they were admitted to top (more rigorous) co-ed schools. In part it's because the K - 8 was so rigorous they'd had enough and wanted it not so tough in high school, but there seems to be something else in the air, too. The 9th graders are very happy with their school choices. The single-sex schools seem to have more school sponsored social activities with the opposite sex than the co-ed schools. There are groups of brother / sister schools and it seems like one is always having a social, dance, etc, plus sporting events. If you are one who will participate in those activities, then you will spend plenty of time around boys. If you aren't likely to go to those events, then maybe a co-ed school is a good choice.
Is having a religious education during high school important to you? Does one school have emphasis on a specific program or subject you are interested in?
Marymount and Marlborough have similar size grades, about 100, but Campbell Hall has bout 135 per grade. Does that make a difference to you? (All are very small compared to public schools.)
Have you done shadow days? If not, see if you can go to help you make a decision. Make a list of Pros and Cons for each school, see if that helps. Figure out commute time to each school, or what time you'd have to be at the bus pick up. Will your parent always be able to drive you, or will you need to carpool? Is there convenient public transportation in case you can't get a ride? If all things are equal (commute, cost, etc) then go with your gut feeling. They are all wonderful schools, they really are quite similar in many ways, and chances are very high that you would be happy at any of them.
If you do choose Marlborough, know that you can apply to any college you want, no matter how much of a reach it seems. Some schools tend to dissuade students from applying to reach colleges, and only encourage those with a very good chance of being accepted (often athletes at some schools) so the schools can brag they have a high acceptance rate. But my dh participates in the admissions process for his Ivy alma mater, and so I can tell you that there are definitely students who are admitted into their reach colleges, including the Ivies.
Good luck with your decision!

Which school pays you higher? We Answered:
private schools, probably like a certain religion with small classes.you have to be professional for that though because you're getting paid REALLY well, and the tuition for students is high.

Does anyone go to Episcopal High School, boarding school in va? Or has been?We Answered:
I would just like to let you know that I did not go to Episcopal, but a friend of mine at my boarding school transferred out of there. The academics are good, but she was an international student and felt like an extreme minority. She said their student body is not particularly diverse. What are you looking for in a boarding school, though? Financial aid? Friendly environment? Coed or single sex? Geography? Diversity?

Trouble picking a boarding school help please!?We Answered:
You need to get your postage together. Then write to the schools as though they are the only one and 'most perfect' selection for your needs. Then ask, ask and ask again for recommendations from others as to what they know about these schools. A small ad in the newspaper of the places where the schools are located, might not hurt either. Whatever you do, don't use your real name in these ads. After all, you want the information. You are not available to give out your 'business.' I wish you much success.Marlene Said:
