Frank Sinatra High School

Erica Said:

Do you guys think I should get into Frank Sinatra High School or Fiorello Lagurdia High?

We Answered:

Frank Sinatra made great music.

Hugh Said:

Frank Sinatra High School of Arts or Fiorello LaGuardia of Music/Arts & Performing Arts?

We Answered:

I got into both schools and I chose laguardia.

I say try to go to laguardia, if you can deal with the commute. I don't think the neighborhood there is bad. It's just in the middle of Lincoln Center, where all the performing arts places are.

Frank Sinatra is also good in the arts, but not as good in academics. I think the academics are important too, because if you don't plan to pursue a career in the arts then at least you still are well educated for other majors.

good luck

frank sinatra high school audition!? HELP!?

We Answered:

When I auditioned for the School of Music at my university, I forgot an entire measure of my extremely famous aria, and there is no way the professors could have missed my mistake. But I kept going like nothing happened, and got accepted to the program.

So you probably still have a chance, but for future reference, if you make a mistake small enough to brush off, don't mention it because it shows signs that you are a better performer. But if you are good enough then the people won't care about you mistake.

Check on their website thoroughly to see if there is any information about when they send out acceptance notifications. I don't know how it is for high schools like this, but colleges often don't send out acceptance letters till february or march. I would say be patient, because it could go either way. Waiting about audition results is one of the worst things about being a performer, in my opinion.

Good luck! I hope you get it!

Frank Sinatra High School Letter?

We Answered:

My daughter was offered admission to Sinatra. She auditioned there, Laguardia High School, and several other arts schools.

She got into Laguardia and, since Laguardia is a "Specialized" School (like Stuyvesant and Bronx Science) she was offered spots at Laguardia AND the highest school on her list that she got into. She ranked Sinatra number 1 on her list, so she was offered admission to BOTH Laguardia AND Frank Sinatra. But that only happens if you are offered a spot in a specialized school in February.

If you have to wait for the main round (this past round, in March,) you DON'T get multiple offers. You are assigned to only one school on your list.

And some people don't even get that and have to go through the THIRD round with a new list of schools based on whatever schools still have room.

If you didn't get a letter yet, tell your guidance counselor when you get back from vacation and she can look up your status. Btw, my daughter applied in the visual arts and had a grade point average in the 90s. She also went to an arts oriented middle school and, even there, she was one of the top art students.

Jill Said:

I got into Laguardia High School and Frank Sinatra School of the Arts for instrumental music..i play the flute?

We Answered:

Laguardia. It's better than Frank Sinatra both academically and in the arts, and is more well-known. :]
So def choose Lag.

Is Bard II going to take over Frank Sinatra High School?

We Answered:

hey i go to bard II & i assure u that we'r not gonna take over da whole skool, just part of it :]

besides, bard II only takes in about 200 people for each graduatin class, so its much smaller than many other skools, and therefore we wont me takin up much room =]
