You can get your GED through online correspondence courses and/or accelerated programs via your local community college in many cases. it's a federal program typically run by the college.

Hi. There are a number of online high schools out there now offering high school diplomas, but you need to choose carefully. First of all, these high schools can sometimes earn bad rep on the internet; this often leads them to close their institution altogether. After that, it becomes real hard to get your diploma accepted if the school in question doesn’t exist. Also, these school often times cost just as much as attending a regular school.

Online high school diplomas also sometimes are not universally accepted in other educational institutions. One of my friends though got a high school diploma online though about four or five years ago, I think it was from Belford High School. He’s gone on to get an associate and bachelors later on from University of Florida and now earns brickloads of money. So I guess it does work out for people sometimes.

I’d say, if you can find a good school go for it. Just make sure of a few things. Firstly, that the school’s been around for at least three four years, just so you know they won’t disappear on you. Also see if they are offering online diploma verification that’s a good sign. Most employers or educational institutes check for the veracity of your diploma online so if that’s there, you ought to be okay. With my cousin’s alma mater, you at least know that they’d deliver the diploma to you when you earn it.
