High School Algebra

Joann Said:

What college course is equivalent to high school algebra?

We Answered:

since course requirements vary from school to school to school, I cannot tell you what course to take. However, I would advise that you speak with your counselor. Set up an appointment with him or her to develop a course curriculum. This will take about an hour to complete. Your counselor will help you figure out which courses you need to take, and in what order. He/she will also help you find out what the course numbers are for all of your required courses, and may even help get you registered.

Janice Said:

What would high school algebra 2 be considered in a community college?

We Answered:

Math 101 or 1010 or 0101 (a.k.a College Algebra) would be close to High School Algebra two, however College Algebra is more advanced and difficult but follows along the same things in High School Algebra 2. Unfortunately as a high school student you wouldn't be eligible to take college algebra unless you have taken your ACT or SAT and scored above the required level in Math. In most Colleges for College Algebra you are required to have the Prerequisite classes passed or the required score on your ACT or SAT.

So your options are, take your ACT or SAT(which ever is required). Make above the required level in the math section of the test, and then you'd be eligible, otherwise you'll have to take several semesters or developmental/remedial courses before you can take College Algebra.

Go to summer school, or study and pass....

Peace out.

Pay for tutor of high school algebra?

We Answered:

if you are a college student without a math degree (undergrad) then $25 per hour is fair, $35 if you have to go to them.

If you have a bachelores then $40-$50 is fair

If you have teacher certification the going rate here in New York is about $60 per hour

These are so long as it is 1 on 1 tutoring, if you do multiple kids at once then $15/$25, $25-$35, $35-$50 per kid is acceptable.
