Derek Said:

How is a high school chemistry and government class?

We Answered:

BOTH OF THESE COURSES ARE; HARD.

But if your very smart; I would take the chemistry course at school. And take the government class online. This way you wouldn't get bored either. Because government class can be very boring in school.

GOOD LUCK!

How much math is there in high school chemistry?

We Answered:

general chemistry has a little algebra.. that's about it though...

the most important math tool that you could learn in advance is "factor label method" or "unit factor method".. aka "dimensional analysis"

you can google that or read my answer here.

my suggestions to pass the class....

Chemistry will be a strange new world to you. You'll hear words you've never heard before. You'll learn techniques (like factor label method) that will be new to you. Etc...

Do your homework. Post questions here on YA.. There are many repeat answerers here who know their material well. Many of us are ex instructors. Use the internet. Ask questions in class or to your teacher outside of class. etc.. and you will do fine.

How does college chemistry compare to high school chemistry?

We Answered:

A chemistry course like that will touch the same stuff in an AP Chemistry class, and may go into more depth on certain subjects. But it'll be much harder than a regular chemistry class in high school.

Roy Said:

Can you teach high school chemistry with a degree in chemical engineering?

We Answered:

You could, your best bet is to major in Education, secondary level. Talk to the education department at UW, they should lead you in the right direction.

Another route would be to major in chemical engineering and when you get out find a school district that is in desperate need of science teachers and they will help you get the right certification.
