MTI charges $110 per performance, so it would be $440 if you're just doing 4 shows. You also have to pay the supply rental fee (scripts, chorus books, orchestra books) which I believe is between $550 and $600. So, it would be about $1000 total to MTI. But, don't forget about money for set, costumes, programs. You probably don't need any for lights, but sometimes you need some for sound if you need any new mic packs or anything...

Also, if you have an account with MTI, they send you an automated contract with the price on it instantly. There's no waiting involved. Were you writing them to open an account? Only teachers and directors are allowed to open an account with MTI. If your school has done musicals before, they should already have an account.

A couple reasons:

1.High School is Cool. All kids, if given a choice, want to watch shows about high school, over any school 'under that. Elementary and middle school is boring..high school is cool and fun. All kids look forward to High School.

2.Actors. In high school, you can get away with adults(18+) playing kids(15-17). But as the actors are adults, Disney does not have to put up with parent problems and kid working laws. And adult actors are a bit more 'grown up' then kids. And kid actors, like 5-13 are very hard to work with...as they are kids. Some times they have to shoot a scene ten times or a actor has to stand in a spot for an hour while they adjust lighting and so forth. It's hard for kids do such things.

3.Drama. This is the big one. In High School you can have lots and lots of drama. In younger schools..er...not so much. You can't exactly to an 'elementary school love triangle', for example. The average kids life, even a fake TV life is boring with no drama...until high school.

4.Censors. This is another big one. In order to have drama...or even comedy....you have to do 'bad' things. And people get Very squeamish when even slightly 'bad' things get done to younger kids. But by High School, people don't care about protecting the 'innocent kids' so much. You can, for example do 'drug use' on a high school show....but people would freak out if it was on an 'elementary school show'.

5.They copy. Every network does this. They get one show that is a hit...and just try and copy it and make two or three or four hits.
