If your looking for more, I suggest finding local community theatres, alot of them do open casting calls for young talented people, Also don't be afraid to go to open casting calls at colleges, When I was in college it wasn't rare to have a high school student in the production, you may be able to get college credit for that particular school, and it looks fantastic on a resume' when applying to other schools. Good Luck, theatre is a tough world, do as much as you can, experience experience experience, it's very rare for someone to burst onto the screen without a hefty resume'

It is up to the Band Director's Boss, the Principal to set that rule. If you are a concerned parent, you and the school board are the Boss of the Principal. I think that the community the band represents has the right to decide what is playable and what is not playable. The retired bannd director has no value except as a concerned community member. Personally if it was me, I would think that the Band director would have to show more discretion than that. You have to please the parents sensitivities in the end.
