gather in a nice place where you can have fun remembering your past days by watching some kinds of documentary movie or video about your middle school or by just presenting your photos using a projector.

i've done it before and you know what happened ? lots of people are crying when they remember what had they done in those years. they speak to the person next to them, i.e 'i remember when ms. xyz is teaching in front of the class, we put our earphones on, and bla bla bla..'

those sort of memories wont seem so precious at the happening of the event in the past, but you will consider how precious is the moment when you watch it happened again in front of your eyes. :)
(i remember those are the words that my math teacher said to my class before the farewell party) :D

1988 -- you were on the verge of escaping the 80s. I'd probably hit key moments in the history of your years in high school together. Favorite teachers, big wins in sports, moments in the news, favorite songs, TV shows and movies. Print some of those as big photos and hang them on signs around the room, play some of them as video clips and have a DJ spin the tunes. Make the reunion a trip down memory lane. People will reconnect with each other, but they'll do it a lot easier if you make the reunion like a temporary museum. Most of these folks probably haven't seen each other since the last reunion. Giving them some conversation starters will help them reestablish their connections and enjoy the reunion a lot more.

Have a fashion show with the kids dressed up in their parents clothes from the time.

Have a match the baby picture with the adult picture contest.

You can have the families bring (or take pictures with a digital camera and print them out) and the reunion group hides the pictures in different parts of the school and the families have to find their pictures. Once found, they put their picture on the "Who's here" wall.

The kids can do a word search of the people who went to the school.

Prepare a slide show of pictures taken from their school days. (yearbook should have pictures somewhere)

You can run the standard relays - 3 legged race, race with math book on head, race with tub of water, spin around and run race, balloon pop race, obstacle course, fire drill race, scavenger hunt, etc

This might cost a quite a bit of money, but I don't know your budget, but I think having the year book pictures blowup and placed around would be neat. You could have people guess who's who and maybe make a contest out of it.
It's also just a great conversation piece.
