This seems to be an extremely HOT topic, as I've seen it quite a few times this week. I'm a middle school librarian & just finished working with my students on topic selection. The BEST site we found is: http://www.sciencebuddies.org

It provides hundreds of ideas organized by topic. Each idea includes the proof, supplies list, procedures & much more. Awesome resource. Each idea is also ranked by difficulty level (HS should be looking at difficulty levels 5-8) For topics, click on the "Science Project Ideas" link. Try making a Rube Goldberg type project. Its fun, but hard. You may need about 3 of your friends to help you. If you dont know what the @$#!$ im talking about then hers an example

you dont have to do anything as complicated as this but itll get you a good mark as far as style and creativity.
