High School Study Abroad

Brandy Said:

What is the best year of high school to study abroad?

We Answered:

Junior year is the best. That way you have 2 yrs of High School out of the way and are over half way through your requirements for graduation. Then when you return, you have 1 year to get readjusted to life in the States and finalize everything that is needed to graduate on time.

Gene Said:

is the CIEE High School Study Abroad progam really good?

We Answered:

Good Afternoon!

I wanted to touch base with you about the Australia program that CIEE offers for high school abroad.
As you may already know, CIEE is a not-for-profit organization governed by a consortium of 270 universities and other institutions of higher learning. We are the leading US provider of university study abroad. About half of CIEE's employees work at study centers in 36 countries around the world, while the remaining 150 are employed at our headquarters in Portland, ME.

The best place to find this information is:

If you would like to find out more information please feel free to give us a call at 207.553.4077

I look forward to hearing from you!

Katrina Said:

Have you ever experienced a high school study abroad program?

We Answered:

I'm currently hosting my 13th foreign exchange student! I can tell you it's a fantastic experience and one that will change you forever! And yes, colleges will love it!

If you have the funds and the time, definitely go for it!

Here's a web site that will help you out a lot -- it's written by exchange students and has lots of great info! http://www.exchangestudentworld.com/

Your first step is finding a program. Make sure it is CSIET listed (www.csiet.org) and/or ask your school counselor. Reliable ones tend to be Aspect, AFS, Rotary and YFU. If you want to go next year, you must hurry! Most programs will have probably closed down applications or are about to!

Good luck!

Violet Said:

Does anyone know of a high school study abroad program?

We Answered:

You won't find those in high school programs. If that's what you're looking for, wait for college.

The good high school programs are homestay and you DO have rules.

YFU and AFS are the best, followed by Rotary -- also good, but a different set up (and MUCH stricter).

Discuss It!
