Sherri Said:

Are their any states in America that let you homeschool your kids without a high school diploma?

We Answered:

I suspect you're a troll but the answer is yes. All you have to do is teach your kids to pass the standardized tests that your local school district makes kids take. I believe that requirement is a form of slavery though.

Homeschooling possible with no high school diploma?

We Answered:

Public schools usually don't have online classes. The school in your city probably does not offer any online classes. However, in some states there are online public schools. They are virtual charter schools that operate only online. K12 operates in some states, connections academy in states, Florida Virtual School in Florida. None of the virtual schools would require your guardian to have a diploma, but not every state allows for virtual schools.

Traditional homeschooling is different than online school. In some states, a diploma is required for traditional homeschool. BUT it wouldn't be for online schooling, even in those states that require a diploma,. because when you enroll in an online school, you are a student of the school. When you are traditionally homeschooled, you are on your own.

I think the confusion might be that people call both types of learning homeschooling, Traditional homeschoolers won't call online homeschooling at all. They'd use a term like virtual schooling. But calling either homeschooling makes sense since both are done at home - just put a word in front of "homeschooling" so that it's clear. The two types of education are different in that with an online virtual school, you follow the rules for that school since you are a student of the public school, but a traditional homeschooling student is independent (like a one family private school) You pick your own curriculum and set your own graduation requirements. The laws governing each are different. You need to be specific about which type you are considering so that you get the correct set of laws that apply to what you choose.

I hope this helps.

Edward Said:

Going to college eventually... should I:finish regular high school, get online diploma, homeschool and get GED?

We Answered:

Look it totally depends on what you feel is good for you ! If you don't feel comfortable in regular high school you should join an online school but just make sure that the school that you are joining is a legit one.
The advantage of getting home schooled is that you can spend your extra time in some productive ways like getting some parallel education.
