Karl Said:

High School Football Playoff game. Pick your choice team?

We Answered:

My alma mater is in the Interstate 8 Large Division and just got creamed by the Wilmington Wildcats early in the season. The Wildcats were definitely the class of the I-8 this fall, of either division (7 of the 12 I-8 schools made the playoffs, but Wilmington is the only survivor).

That said, I don't think this Wilmington team is as good as the back-to-back Plano teams the last two years, or the Wilmington teams of a couple of years back. The Big Northern Conference has been the bane of the I-8 schools the last couple of years, and this year is likely no different. Oregon is likely to eliminate the Wildcats.

Jerry Said:

Are metal tipped spikes allowed in Illinois high school football?

We Answered:

Yes, but there are very specific requirements. I won't bother telling you them because it's full of metalurgy jargon that makes little sense to anyone but a metalurgist. If you get them from a well known mainstream supplier like Nike, Reebok, UA, etc. you should be fine. Don't try to mess with them, put track spikes in them, sharpen them, etc.
