Audrey Said:
Jesuit University edge for Jesuit high school students, looking at Boston College, Georgetown? We Answered:
Absolutely. The Jesuits take care of their own. You should also look into top Jesuit College of the Holy Cross which is rated a 98 academically by the Princeton Review. BC garners only an 87 and Georgetown a 92 rating. Obama's 27 year old Chief Speechwriter went to Holy Cross and one of the US Supreme Court Justices.Cassandra Said:

Is there anyone here who hated going to Jesuit High School in Tampa, FL or just high school in general? We Answered:
I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad time at Jesuit. I graduated five years after you, and my experience, as well as the experiences of most if not all of my fellow graduates was completely the opposite of yours, at least to my knowledge. Except in rare cases, the teachers were incredibly smart, caring, fun, and good at their jobs. They didn't hold your hand and tell you you're brilliant. Instead, they made you work and challenged you to expand your intellectual horizons while making it a fun place. Obviously, this is a generalization, but on the whole I found it to be very true. There was some bad behavior here and there, mostly in the name of good fun, but making fun of classmates and teasing seemed to go away after freshman year. By the end of senior year, I knew most of the people in my class at least a little, and we all felt like brothers. The furthest anyone went with teasing that I can think of right now included tying people's backpacks to each other and furniture using zip ties or kicking the rolling, suitcase-like bags of freshmen. Things can certainly change in a few years, but I never witnessed any stone throwing, spitting on people, or coughing on people. In all, my experience there was a great one. I met lots of nice, good people, learned quite a bit, and had a good time.I know that what I have written probably sounds like I'm trying to discredit what you have described. This isn't the case. It's just that from my four years there as well as what I've heard from others who graduated with me, your account seems incredibly hard to believe. If it is true, then I am very sorry for your negative experience. I hope that as time goes on you will try to find a way to forgive the school and those who committed such acts. High school kids, male or otherwise, can sometimes be very mean-spirited and pick on those perceived as different. I'm sure you would find this at any high school. I hope that you will be able to keep this in mind and understand that while Jesuit tries to foster a nurturing, Catholic environment, it is inevitable that some of the students it enrolls, especially in each freshmen class before they get weeded out, will not act to the standards expected by the school.
Take care. I hope that you are successful in overcoming the emotional scars left by your experiences and are able to move from anger to forgiveness.

Should i go to regis jesuit high school? We Answered:
Regis Jesuit High School is a Jesuit Catholic college preparatory high school located in Aurora, Colorado. Founded in 1877, the high school shares much of its history with its counterpart Regis University in neighboring Denver, Colorado.Regis is the United States' only co-institutional Jesuit school (as opposed to a co-educational), meaning that the school is split into two gender divisions. The school is a member of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association. The school is operated independent of and with the blessing of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Denver.
The school was founded by Italian Jesuits in 1877 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Another school was opened in Morrison, Colorado seven years later. In 1888, the two schools were merged and renamed for St. John Francis Regis to become Regis College, located on 52nd and Lowell Streets in Denver, Colorado. In 1921, the school was formally split into Regis High School and Regis University. The high school and University co-existed on the campus in Denver and shared facilities until a separate building was built on campus for the high school in 1984. In 1989, a parcel of land near Parker and Arapahoe Roads in Aurora was donated to the school. That area is now called the Campbell Campus, and it houses both the Girls and Boys Divisions.
Regis Jesuit High School practices a college-preparatory curriculum with a strong emphasis on the development of leadership, service, and religious faith. In past years more than 98% of graduates have been accepted at colleges and universities throughout the country. It is possible for Regis Jesuit students to take college credit courses at the high school and earn up to 36 semester hours of college credit from Regis University or through the Advanced Placement Program. There are more than 15 AP classes offered and honors sections exist in most departments. Incoming freshmen are eligible to place into advanced courses in math, foreign language, English and science.
Regis Jesuit has a daily-alternating block schedule. All students must be enrolled in seven courses each semester. There are no study halls in a students' schedule, but there are Office Hours in the morning which can be used to work on homework, talk with teachers, or host meetings for clubs.
Each year, students participate in various retreat programs run by the Pastoral Office. All freshmen attend Compass Days prior to their first day of class as well as Freshman retreat during the school year. 10th graders and 11th graders participate in Sophomore Retreat and the Kairos retreat, respectively. Seniors have a variety of options for retreats, including Silent Retreat, Martha and Mary Retreat (Girls Division), leading Kairos, and the traditional Senior Retreat.
Community service is an important component in a Regis student's education. There are differing levels of hourly service requirements depending on a student's grade level. Juniors and seniors are required to take part in a two week/sixty-hour service project wherein they work in various community organizations including Volunteers of America, Children's Hospital (Aurora, Colorado), as well as various elementary schools, soup kitchens, retirement facilities, and food banks.
Mission Statement...
"Regis Jesuit High School,
a Catholic educational community,
affirms the uniqueness and dignity of individuals,
inspires the pursuit of excellence,
and strives to develop a connection to the world
community."
The hallmark of Jesuit education is cura personalis, the care and concern for the individual. This educational community provides a student-centered environment in which each individual can develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Regis Jesuit aims to form a community of individuals who demand more of themselves and who strive to achieve excellence in all their endeavors by being Open to Growth, Intellectually Competent, Religious, Loving, and Committed to Doing Justice.
Regis Jesuit High School provides single-gender, co-institutional education by operating as two separate and distinct divisions, the Boys Division and the Girls Division. Each has its own principal, administrative team, faculty and staff. As such Regis Jesuit is able to provide its students with the best of both worlds—a structured single-gender academic environment during the school day with co-ed co-curricular and social opportunities outside of school hours.
