High paying jobs to look for after high school?

We Answered:

Without any further training or education? Nothing legal springs to mind. Try working for a year to decide what you want to do, then pursue the training that you need for that.

What Are Good Starting Jobs To Have After High School?

We Answered:

A really good job is one that may help you get into the field you are interested in. So, the answer will depend on what you are interested in.

If you aren't sure of your long-term goals, then you might want to do some research into careers. There are "tests" that you can take that help show you the careers that best suit you and your interests and such; a guidance counselor may have some or you might even ask a librarian to help you. The ASVAB test is designed by the military to help determine the best jobs for military people, but a lot of times they'll give it free of charge to high school students, whether they are interested in the military or not, and send them a report showing the sorts of jobs that would best suit them. Try something like that to get a start in planning.

Also, most libraries have a variety of books that help you think about the sorts of things you want to consider in a job. What's important to you? Would you like a job that's inside and comfortable or would you prefer to be outside, where you can move around more? Is money more important to you or doing something that helps people and makes a difference in the world? Do you like a job that is the structured and similar every day, or one with a lot of variety? There are a lot of things to consider, and the answers will depend on you....

Until you start to figure these things out, you might want to just take a job that pays and lets you take some time to figure out where you want to be heading....

What jobs are available after High School?

We Answered:

There are plenty of trades out there that you can start out in as an apprentice and work your way up the ladder. Unfortunately, to be a nurse, you also need schooling. I have a friend who's going to school for two years to become a certified nursing assistant. The best way to get a job somewhere if you don't have a degree is to know someone who's already working there, since a lot of people are afraid to hire a perfect stranger with no diploma saying they've actually studied and know something about the job they're going to be doing. Virtually all jobs besides Wal-Mart type jobs will require at least a little training (maybe a couple weeks, maybe a couple years). Just remember that you can always go back and get a college degree. It's not like this is your only chance to go to college. However, most people find it very hard to go back to college after they've started a career or maybe started a family, so consider your alternatives carefully.
