Musicals For High Schools

Louise Said:

What are good musicals for small high schools?

We Answered:

Little Women--- has a very small mostly female cast. The music is beautiful and very singable, but it's not well known)

You're a Good Man...---can be big or small
Godspell---can be be or small
Children of Eden---(This has lots of music and is not easy)
Fantastiks---
Annie (You can get away with a smaller cast and the audiences love it, but it's not my favorite)

I want to try out for our high schools musical?

We Answered:

hey i have tried out for soo many musicals over the years. I've done drama class, improv classes, 3 plays, and 2 musicals and i'm only a freshmen. I would say relax! Know the lyrics ( i have messed up many times and its not fun). Don't be nervous to sing in front of people because everyone is in the same position. And the best you can.

Some tips:
Practice in front of the mirror and make sure your not doing weird movements with your face ( that can happen).

Move around during your audition. It might feel weird but you need to grab there attention not just stand there.

Have fun!!
and good luck =]]]

When will High School Musical 3 On Stage be open for Schools to use it for actuall school musicals?

We Answered:

Hopefully never. That way people wont have to deal with the torment of such uninspired and poor theater.

Does anyone know a good point of contact or website to enter my daughters into High School Musicals?

We Answered:

no such thing - sorry - they have to be professional actresses, and have an agent...it's quite impossible unless they had prepared and trained....

How do I make my high schools musical?

We Answered:

To be honest, that's not a great audition song for the show. All Shook Up is an Elvis "jukebox" show, so you really want a rock n' roll song - I'd be looking at a song from Bye Bye Birdie, where the lead character was basically based on Elvis, as the style will be much more appropriate. While Jekyll and Hyde has some fantastic music, it's completely the wrong style for All Shook Up. In terms of nerves (which is what it sounds like to me), try and remember that the audition panel WANT you to do well. They're not there to set you up to fail, they really do want you to do your best. Also, this will sound odd, but eat bananas prior to your audition. They contain natural compounds which act as beta blockers, helping keep your heart rate down which will keep you relaxed. For the dance side of the audition, try YouTubing some other rock and roll dance, and practice along with it, so that you're at least familiar with some of the steps - that way it won't be completely foreign to you when it comes to picking up the routine.
