Kathryn Said:

Have you ever participated in high school model untied nations?

We Answered:

Yes, and I loved every second of it! I attended the Georgetown North American Invitational Model United Nations Conference for three years. It's a great experience because you get to meet people your age from other states, and even countries. I met people from China and Spain, and it was fun discussing and debating real issues with other kids my age. It's truly an amazing experience, and I would definitely participate if I were you. I have so much I could tell you, but I don't want to bore/overwhelm you with it all. If you have any questions, just email me (my email is on my profile!) :)

Angel Said:

Can I get a scholarship for modeling united nations as a high school individual student?

We Answered:

Yes you can get a scholarship and many other good stuff if your really dedicated, intelligent, and overall helpful in the united nations projects but I ofcourse am involved with united nations in America not in the middle east so im not really sure about your country requirements or the way it works there.
Hmm how old are? Are in you in high school?Could you study, afford to travel or have the permission or access to easily come to New York and paticipate here?? I'd suggest you talk to your organizer for UN in Jordan or talk to a counselor andget more informed. Ofcourse I think your paricipation would be awknowledged and recognized with more interest than other ideas probably because of the situation going on in Irak now so I really do think you have a good chance of receiving a scholarship and accomplishing although like I said find the specific requirements in your country.
Anyway here are a few links www.un.org/depts/OHRM/sds/internsh/htm/f… or unicef.org
If anything just ask your organizer like I said before or simply try to email or fax the UN correspondents in New York.

Stacey Said:

What exactly does a MUN (Model United Nations) do in high school?

We Answered:

Definitely. Most colleges and universities love to see applicants joining MUN because students mostly debate about global issues, such as world hunger, education, etc. This increases your confidence to speak eloquently during a debate, and it really boosts up your application. Plus, you get to dress formal and attend conferences.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Leslie Said:

What are the benefits of joining Model United Nations in high school?

We Answered:

Hey there! I'm currently MUN right now.
And benefits?
Well, to start off its a great way to learn about current events. If you don't think that's useful, believe me...it is. You're going to be much more well-rounded with Model UN. Also, you'll meet more people in your school which is always fun. You learn public speaking, debating and the motions that the real UN goes through. Conferances are always fun. Plus it's a good add onto your college application.
Definitely consider joining MUN.

Good luck!
