Private High School Ranking
Deborah Said:
public high school vs private high school? We Answered:
Yes, they have a rank, every high school does. Anyways, advantages?Well, typically private schools are ranked higher academically than publics, so colleges will know you were challenged more. The disadvantages... cost and religious classes. Most private schools make you take some sort of religious teaching class and/or go to church.
good luck

Private vs Public High School-Which is better for College? We Answered:
It's better to go to the public school; although the private school you have provided is one of the best, you will be with some of the brightest in the nation as well. Colleges ALWAYS look at the top ten percent in every school. You want to appear to be exactly what they look for; by being in a great school does not mean you will do well there. Besides, making friends is not that simple, and in a school setting you will need friend support to maintain yourself at sanity.Since you love arts, why not stay at your school? The private school excels at subjects your not that great at so what's the point of forcing yoruself in that path? Stay in your school, you'll notice that being one of the top 5% of an ok school will be better than the top 15% of an amazing school.

I have a 2.75 GPA in all AP and A level courses at a highly ranked private high school, where can I go?We Answered:
Dude, what happened? You're obviously smart from your SAT score. Unfortunately, colleges prefer good gpas vs good SAT scores. Good gpas show you're willing to work. Being able to pay will be to your advantage, as will the sports. You will get a slight bump if your high school is extremely rigorous, but they never bump to the amount deserved. (My son attends an extremely rigorous private school, 50% National Merit recognized seniors, SAT avg over 2000, but I know he still has to get all As to get into the colleges he wants to attend.)Try the official SAT website's College Search function on the left. Click on Find your match and go through the sorting process and you'll come up with some colleges. Don't hesitate to apply to where you'd really like to attend, you never know. (My dh participates in the admissions process for his Ivy alma mater and you just never know.) http://www.collegeboard.com/
Good luck!
