School District For My Address

Steve Said:

Is it illegal for my mom to look up my boyfriend's address in the school records?

We Answered:

That would depend on the districts work polices. It's unlikely to be a legal matter, simply a district policy matter.

Seth Said:

What do I say to high school district office when using a diffrent address?

We Answered:

Hey man. Honestly i have no clue what you can do try talking to someone who's done this before. I know theres alot of stuff like changing your parents address on there Drivers License and a bunch of stuff..

But make sure that the school isnt really that crazy on there policy. I know my school actually has private investigators that go and check to see if you really do live at that address. And they kick people out and ban them for a year or something.

Just be careful

Tonya Said:

In California what happens if a school district finds out I let someone use my address for their child?

We Answered:

No, usually they just make you go to another school. The PROPER school in their district. If not a private school. But, they do not do much really. No need to get worked up, it's okay.

Kelly Said:

What are the ramifications of allowing a high schooler use our address to attend our school district ?

We Answered:

Yes, there are legal ramifications because what you are considering doing is fraud. I would weigh this though. I would never encourage you to do something illegal, but there are ways to walk in the grey areas. If someone is in danger, you are privileged to take action to protect them. The law favors such an approach. Saying the child "always lives" with you for purposes of schooling is illegal, but saying the child has had to "temporarily stay with you because of serious risks and problems at his home or area" is not illegal. Speaking with the principal of your school and explaining that the move is temporary and NECESSARY will take you out of the fraud area of criminal liability because you are being honest and open about what your intentions are. I hope this answer was helpful and I hope that you chose to help the family if they are in trouble. Good luck.
