A guy at my school who was lined up for straight A's and had received a university offer from Oxford (I'm from England... Oxford is arguably the best uni here) was known to have plagiarized, and openly copied a teacher's work, as well as being known for stealing books, but he wasn't punished at all because him getting such good grades benefited the school, and they didn't want to lose him. Makes me sick.

i always wanted there to be a computing club or a language club, but these were just for the year 7-8's. i also know that a few of us wanted a numercy group for people around our own age to help us with our basic maths that we couldn't do, and without the humiliation of a classroom.

The best and most overlooked way to improve classroom education of any kind is to introduce the use of boardgames. I have taught for over ten years all over the world, and only when I use boardgames do students voluntarily insist on extending their classes for two, three, even four hours. Not only that, but they then show the most rapid improvement.
