Summer Programs For High School Students At Colleges
Luis Said:
Summer College for High School Students Programs? We Answered:
In my high schooling career, I have attended many summer colleges, and here are ones that I suggest.I did Summer@Brown which was AMAZING!
I also did Cornell Summer College, and Leadership in the Business World at Penn (which wouldn't be for you, because of journalism)
However, I would suggest the Northwestern Summer Program or look to see if Emerson has anything, because they are specifically a theatre arts college.

Journalism Summer College for High School Students Programs? We Answered:
Yes, there's one at Indiana U Bloomington. Their journalism school is pretty prestigious.I went there and didn't love it, but then again, I'm more into creative writing, and had just come from a writing program at Bryn Mawr.
It's worth looking in to.

Summer programs at colleges for high school students? We Answered:
Most colleges do, it might be a bit early, but they might have last year's listings. Some won't have any listings up, but probably in January they will. Usually summer programs are theme based, like Science for Women, or Shakespeare. Go to the college website and put "high school" into their search box and look through what pops up.You can also take classes at community colleges. I'm not sure what you mean about serious algebra/geometry, but generally high school students take math classes for advancement. Like at my son's private school, there are 9th graders in AP Calculus AB, instead of the typical Algebra 2/Trig, because they've taken classes for credit and advancement at community colleges or other private schools over the summer.
Good luck!

Several questions on college summer programs for high school students...?We Answered:
1. Yes, anything extra you do makes you look good, especially if the program is an academic one, which you seem to be leaning toward.2. I don't think it matters that much whether the program is related to your intended field of study. After all, people change interests, but it is their ambition and motivation that colleges are after.
3. Going to the program itself might not make that much of an impact on your chances of acceptance. However, if you can somehow use your experience to your advantage, it could help. For example, let's say you went to the UPenn summer program. In your essay/personal statement, you can write something along the lines of "In the summer before my senior year, I attended... where I experienced _______ and realized that I truly belong here" blah blah blah. You can also say that you took a course there and have a taste of what it is like to be there.
4. Cornell offers its Summer College for High School Students. Look under "Medicine, Science, and Biological Research."
5. Your GPA, assuming your weighted is around the same, and your PSAT is good enough to make it. These programs are not as selective as the freshman admissions, so you have a good shot at getting into these programs. I don't personally know because I went to the Washington University in St. Louis program, but from experience summer programs are, as I said, not as selective.
Good luck!
