Sergio Said:

It took me a year to get my son enrolled in Oklahomas Virtual High School, I tried last year and they were full. I started calling and emailing them in June this year to get him enrolled.

Edgar Said:

Can you go to regular school while taking virtual high school?

We Answered:

Yes

Alan Said:

I'm thinking of taking Virtual High School courses, will this ruin my chances of getting into a good school?

We Answered:

As long as the courses are ,more rigorous than the regular high school, and are accredited and able to be accepted by colleges, you should be OK. BUT, I would contact some colleges directly as you want this type of info from the horses' mouth. This would be a good time to call them, as they are done with recruitment for the year. I would also look for unusual projects (science, study abroad, debate teams or something along those lines) to help you stand out. You might be able to start college courses as a "senior."

Marion Said:

Can I attend a virtual high school out of state?

We Answered:

Most online schools make students out of state pay to go to their "schools" It's got to do with taxes. I use the Florida Virtual online and I don't have to pay because my parents pay taxes here in Florida. The state can't afford to pay for other students from other states. I don't know how much it is but I know sometimes it can be a lot.

How does virtual high school work?

We Answered:

You are assigned a teacher, or teachers for high school, and you take your classes online. This is generally student-led learning, with a teacher available for support. You will generally email or fax your work to your teachers. You will still be doing a lot of the same type of assignments as you are already used to. To be successful, you must be independent and able to keep yourself on track. I only know about the virtual school system we use, and it's one of the K12 academies. To see if there is one available in your state, you can check www.k12.com and look where it says public school options.
