AAT or CIMA for accounting? We Answered:
As you are already mathematically competent from your engineering and a degree holder I'd recommend you go straight for the CIMA. The AAT is designed as a route into accounting for people who don't have A Levels and as such contains a lot of very basic material.Laurie Said:
My trial balance isnt balancing...any help would be greatly appreciated.?We Answered:
To increase the provision for bad debts, you should credit the provision (liability acct) for 406 and debit the bad debt expense acct (expense) for 406. To write off the bad debt, you credit accounts receivable (asset acct) for 2200 and debit the provision acct for 2200. Hope this helps. I work in the US and our books may be set up a bit different, but the concept is the same.Just read your additional details...post the 406 to bad debt (debit) and credit increase of provision of bad debt. Post the 2200 to bad debts written off (credit) and debit provision for bad debts.
Sorry if I'm too late with this answer.

Legal Opinion about quite odd position? We Answered:
Look at the contract that you have with the college...this should state what their conduct towards you should be. It's unlikely that you can claim for damages unless you can prove that this incident has damaged you.Yolanda Said:
I am doing AAT by distance learning I am a Chemistry grad, I have no accounts experiemce how hard will it be?We Answered:
I take it you are actually working in accounts, you will need accounts experience to actually complete the course. It gets harder as you go along, if you are starting at foundation level you'll probably find you can get through it without too much study between lessons. After that playtime's over, especially if your employer isn't developing you fast enough and the things you are covering on the course are alien to you on a practical level.
I'd definitely recommend enrolling on a class from intermediate onwards, you'll find it much easier and the pace is much faster.
You can print off past exam/answer papers from the AAT website, these really help if you work through them!!!!!!
I've just thought that the fact you have a degree already means you may have opted to start at intermediate, if this is the case get yourself a good book and make sure you know double entry bookkeeping inside out, can balance off accounts and make your trial balance actually balance - there is no point in going any further if you can't do this.
Don't fret if you feel you need a break from it after a while, a lot of people do and go back to it later on!!
When you've gained 6-12 months accounts experience you'll find it extremely easy to get temping jobs, this is a very good way to get experience at a faster rate than you would by sticking with one company and you also get to see the different ways that people do things, work with different accounting packages etc. Quite often you will get offers of permenant employment from a temporary post.
Best of luck to you!!

how long does it take to get a aat diploma in accounting technician? We Answered:
Usually 1-2 years full time so it depends on how part time it is. I would reccomend a legitimate school such as a public community college or technical school. Good luck!
