Lots of research is always good. I think you need to meet with a few financial institutions and show them your business plan and try to find financing that way. Also, it might be good to get a major business to help with the funding of your company and research.

It might be nice if your boss knew and understood what you were talking about, but obviously it is not necessary for him to know it. He's the boss, and must have other skills and talents that the company relies on, and he relies on you to do what you were hired to do. While you suffered from extra work due to the "miscommunication' at least he didn't try to blame it on you!

Again, while it would be nice if he knew more about what you do, it is not in your job description (or your best interests) to evaluate his knowledge (or lack of it) nor to make recommendations about what he needs to know in order to do his job or to make your job easier.

However, if you feel that you are deserving of more of a raise, that is definitely something you should should bring up with him, and see if there is any reason you didn't get the amount of money you feel more appropriate, and what would be necessary to get a better raise. Actually, your good work dealing with the 'miscommunication' you mentioned would definitely work in your favor in that conversation!

If you want to take a martial art for the "art" aspect, I suggest you take some form of karate or kung fu.

If you want to learn how to defend yourself, against men (most likely) who greatly outweigh you and are taller and stronger than you, I suggest you take brazilian jiu jitsu.

BJJ is an art where you use leverage and technique to defeat opponents of any size. I can pretty much promise you that if you try and go toe to toe with a man, no matter how much karate or kung fu you know, you will lose and it can and will end horribly for you.

BJJ is also an amazing rape defense. Let's face it, a lot of the BJJ moves are done while in "that" position.

In the year I've been taking BJJ, I've seen many meat heads walk through the door, get owned by a 5'4" 130lb dude and then never come back because their ego can't handle it.

The moral of the story? BJJ is all about technique and not size and strength.

I started potty training with my daughter at about 20 months. She wasn't interested. She eventually started holding in her bowel movements because she was afraid of potty training. It took her until she was almost 3 1/2 to get fully potty trained. What worked for us is that we told her no more pull-ups and that if she has to go, she has to use the toilet. She was obviously of the age and smart enough to understand everything we were saying. She has fully been potty trained for almost 2 months now. Potty training was the one area as a parent that I just felt I had failed and was never going to do this right. My advice for now is to not mention the potty for about a week but leave it there so he can see it. Then, go out and let him pick some inexpensive toys (like 99 cent toys) and put them in a bag. Hang them near the potty chair where he can see it. When he says he wants a toy, tell him he can have one when he goes potty. Bribery is the best tool I've found. We bought my daughter a new "littlest pet shop" toy that she picked out every time she went poo-poo. It worked.
