My parents used to play softball and drag me and my siblings to the games every weekend. We would prank call Hooked on Phonics on the pay phones there all the time. Then the company made it so you couldn't call the number on a pay phone anymore and we had nothing to do- until we started calling talk shows with fake show ideas.

1-800-ABCDEFG! Hooked on Phonics worked for me! Ahh, good times.

When I was younger like in the 90's, my mom had brought hooked on phonics....it works for helping kids or adults learn sounds and pronunciations....so that it can help you sound out words and what not when you do read...it doesnt teach you to read but it helps in figuring out difficult words

My daughter learned to read in about 2 weeks with this method. Look in the pre-K section. It's expensive stuff, but it really works.

Is he attending public school? There should be school programs and teachers that can be assisting him at no charge. They may also be aware of other programs that could help you.

The best thing you could do for him is practice with him, and be consistent. When my daughters were younger I used learning books from Wal-Mart. They range from preschool age and up. They are wonderful and very inexpensive, $5-$8 each.

I used abeka readers and another reader called,'I can read it' from sonlight curriculum.
