How To Learn Algebra

Gail Said:

What grade did you learn integrated algebra in?

We Answered:

I live in Westchester. I'm really in 7th grade, but I skipped a grade for math, and I'm in 8th grade honors, which is Integrated Algebra. I'm taking the Regents on Friday. Good luck next year!

By the way, this is the "Bible" of Integrated Algebra: http://www.amazon.com/Lets-Review-Integr…

Margie Said:

How long will it take to learn algebra?

We Answered:

Of course it's doable, Frank abergnale passed the law bar by cramming for two weeks. Ive had people say they can teach algebra in an afternoon, and the basic principles are the same, follow your order of operations, and isolate the variable, but there are alot of formulas and techniques that you need to memorize. I would reccommend getting a friend who is good at math to tutor you. An outline of what will be tested would be a nice thing to have as well. Testing out of any subject is difficult and discouraged but this is not to say it is impossible. If you try, you will succeed. Good luck!

Is there any easy way to learn algebra?

We Answered:

You may need flash cards, or see a tutor and practice a lot. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Viola Said:

How come students learn algebra and other things that are not used in everyday life.?

We Answered:

I think it's just the fact that you can show that you are capable of learning something, which is important. Employers like to know that they are taking somebody on who is capable of picking up the skills needed to carry out the job. If you cannot prove that you are able to learn, it puts you way down the list of fanciable candidates!! I used to think that school and algebra, bioligy and history, were a total waste of my time. I was glad I had these qualifications when I managed to land my first job at age sixteen. I have worked ever since(now forty four). I agree that there should be more emphasis on "life" skills.
