How To Learn Italian

Lois Said:

How is florence? Is it a good place to learn italian language?

We Answered:

It really depends on you- how long will you stay there and whether you'll be taking courses there, etc.

Any tourist town in Italy speaks a lot of English. Florence has tons of tourists even in the winter! It's crazy. But Italians are still dominant.

I recommend posting fliers around town (and by the Universities) saying that you're an American looking for Italians interested in a conversation exchange so you can improve your Italian.

That is how I met many Italian friends and how I am now fluent in the language. KEY- meet friends, they will love you once they see how interested you are in learning Italian.
I was invited to live with some Italian students for a few months (they're extremely hospitable!).

Grace Said:

How can i learn italian without going to a teacher?

We Answered:

I'm studying basic Italian at University this year. However, this website "http://www.ielanguages.com/italian.html… has everything I have to learn and have already learned. Read through all the different nouns, verbs, regular and irregular, pronouns, adjectives etc etc and you will get the hang of it. It is hard work to learn another language on your own.
Good luck :)

Walter Said:

How long do you think it will take me to learn italian?

We Answered:

It depends on on how well you really immerse yourself into the language and your own study methods. Some people can have 4 years of lessons in one language, and they still don't have the capability to hold a conversation in that language, whereas others can grasp a decent level in the language and get a good understanding of it, say, in 3-6 months, without lessons but with good and effective study methods.

My brother went to Italy earlier this month in a cultural exchange programme. He didn't know a word of Italian, but they all seemed to speak good English in the area he was in, so he got on just fine. However, I still hear of many people going to Italy and struggling to find people who can speak English.

Christian Said:

How long should it take for me to learn Italian?

We Answered:

Italian grammar is actually quite hard to chew even for many italians, so don't worry.
I understand that you wish you ** could ** learn it in a few days, but you just have to take your time, study and be patient.

What really matters is that you really like italian: nothing on this planet is harder than doing something you're not interested in...

How Long Would it Take to Learn Italian in Florence?

We Answered:

To understand the Italian language you must stay more than 3 months, to speak it about 6 months.
You can learn a poor course of Italian in 6 weeks, if you want only to amuse yourself in this excellent city.
