I Want To Learn Spanish
Helen Said:
Does anyone have any tips for Americans looking to move to Buenos Aires, I want to learn Spanish while there? We Answered:
Learn at least some Spanish before you even think of moving there.I lived in Spain for a year and a half, and I had taken Spanish lessons for five years. I still had difficulty getting around. Granted, I had learned Mexican Spanish rather than Spanish Spanish*, but I was not accustomed to speaking it for more than an hour at a time.
*Mexican Spanish and Spanish Spanish are different in a way similar to the way American English and UK English are different. Different words, different idioms, different ways of pronouncing some words.

I really want to learn Spanish, where should I start ? What material should I buy ?We Answered:
I would say that the best way to learn it (without moving to a foreign country) would be to take a class on it. If you don't have the time, the number one thing you should purchase is a Spanish-English dictionary, because once you understand the grammatical structure of the language, all you really need is the vocabulary! For the rest, I'd also recommend:
--Practice Makes Perfect: Spanish Verb Tenses by Dorothy Richmond
--Spanish Grammar for Independent Learners by Arie Vicente and Avigail Azoulay
I'd really REALLY recommend taking a class, but if you can't I'd say those three things are essential for independent learners. Also, watch a lot of Spanish films, it'll help with pronunciation, especially since you can't practice with classmates.

I really want to know how to learn Spanish (latin american) but learn it for good and not forget? We Answered:
With languages it's definitely a use or lose it situation I'm afraid. Do you travel to South America very often? That will definitely help you to maintain your skills. Also do you know anyone else who speaks Spanish where you live? Maybe local classes as well.If you live in the UK, most of the Spanish resources are Spanish from Spain, but even though I speak Latin American Spanish, I used to teach my husband using these resources, I would just tell him if there were any variations, and also tell him to pronounce 's' as 's' and not the 'th' a lot of people use in Spain. He also uses BBC languages website (which is free) to learn, but this is again Spanish from Spain.
Be aware that different countries within South America also have dialectal variations. It's a case of practicing as much as you can and also spending as much time as you can in the country in question if you're able to.
The most important thing you can have is your will power. I've been with my husband for over 9 years now and we both get lazy at the learner/teacher thing and he speaks a little Spanish, mainly picked up from when he has visited South America with me than actually learning here in England.

I REALLY want to learn spanish! What are some easy ways to help me learn? We Answered:
Study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country. That's the best way because you're surrounded by the language and will have to rely on it for many things. If you live in the United States, Mexico and a lot of Latin America are open to you. Puerto Rico is even easier because you don't need a passport to get into there because its a US territory.Jesus Said:
