Ics Home Learning

ICS home learning "A" levels Accountancy, Physcis, Maths and science, peoples opinions and experiences please

We Answered:

I did some course with them back in the 70s and they were fine then.

However, I have heard that they are not very good now. Most people I know seem to recommend the National Extension College. I think they are about the same price as ICS. See:

Alternatively, for maths and accountancy, why not see if there are any course specific text books available and work through them by yourself? I don't know if it would work for sciences though.

ICS Home Learning BTEC Make-Up Artist Course?

We Answered:

I have not seen the ICS course, but I am a professional makeup artist and I believe that you would have many problems in such a course.

You need hands-on experience in your course with practical information and tips on procedures from experience makeup artists. If this would be available to you, fine. If not, I would suggest that you actually take the time to go to classes.

When I was taking my courses, the learning experiences that I had from Professionals were invaluable.

Tina Said:

has anyone ever used ics home learning to get qualifications?

We Answered:

As part of my job I have met quite a few people who have studied GCSEs and A levels through ICS. Their experiences were variable - it depends what sort of tutor you get - but on the whole they weren't happy with ICS and (for GCSE at least) there appear to be much better distance learning places out there (e.g. OOL). They had found the advice line misleading (or just wrong), the paperwork full of mistakes (which have stayed in the paperwork they hand out for years without correction) and out of date, it almost impossible to get hold of some tutors, tutors sometimes got students to do the wrong coursework for exams....Can't give any feedback on childcare, but they don't seem to have a very good approach to customer service or quality.

About ICS home learning?

We Answered:

i used ICS for pharm. technician and it was alright but i only got the diploma and didnt realize i had to get certified. i was clueless at the time and young. but it was a good price and prepped me for the pharmacy exam so I cant say anything bad about it. you can always try it out.

Does anyone else have a problem with ICS home learning?

We Answered:

i haven't had any problems with them yet, apart from the "brilliant" tools and crap they sent me (doing a pc course where it has stated that magnets should not be used near pc components, and they send me a £2.99 magnetic toolkit!)

Nora Said:

do you think ics home based learning is any good?

We Answered:

Purely depends on the course and the qualification offered.

If it is a nationally recognised qualification like an NVQ or GCSE or even a GCE "A" level. Then yes
It shows that you have the ability and dedication to learn on your own without the need of pressure from a "teacher".
It will also show prospective employers that you are very self motivated.

ICS Home Learning courses-are they any good?

We Answered:

I'm so sorry for not being able to help. It's a great question, though. You could try asking that on the student blog where you get to meet other people who are doing the same program...they should have that feature on their website. Sorry again!

Good Luck ;)
