Learn About Computers

Crystal Said:

How do you people that know a bunch about computers learn your stuff?

We Answered:

The magazines are good for information. The website for what you want to learn. A lot of times they have tutorials. Forums are good because you can actually ask people what you don't understand.

You don't say what you want to get into or learn so I can't point you to any website. But you enough on how to search that you can find anything. Do that and build a favorites folder with the websites you find interesting and start learning.

Never be afraid to ask questions. Nobody was born with the info (except for maybe the first poster!). Everybody has to start somewhere. The wanting to learn is the first step, finding all the info you can on it is next, then asking questions and putting what you learn to use follows.

Pretty soon you will know so much, YOU will be teaching beginners on some website or forum somewhere!

Good luck, and remember that the only person that can hold you back is yourself.

Margaret Said:

What is the best book to learn about computers for beginners?

We Answered:

To be honest, there are a butt load of books about "computers" out there, but there aren't really any good ones for learning. The best way to learn about the workings of a computer? Build one. Seriously. During that project, you'll learn what parts you'll need just by searching online. You'll find out how many different types of parts there are, the different companies, what the differences are, how to put them together, how they affect each other, etc. It's a very good learning experience. As for programming, I'd suggest taking college courses at a junior college. It's a low cost but highly effective hands on learning experience.

Glen Said:

Where do I start to learn about computers programs?

We Answered:

It honestly depends on what level of information you want.

If you are looking for simple coding, I would visit the local library and check up on C/C++ primers for a general view of how to code and how it works together. Other languages are also good to look through, like .NET, Java, etc. Learning the basics will help you get to what I believe you are to trying to achieve.

If you are looking to write these programs, I suggest getting a text book, but do your research, some are better than others.

In the off chance I am mistaken (which I probably am) and you want a program that allows you to manipulate 3-Dimensional objects, you could try Maya, 3d Max, AutoCad, or C4d. These program allow manipulation and dynamic changes to occur in real time. Moreover, these programs allow you to create your own 3-Dimensional objects from scratch. These programs have a high learning curve, but there are books specifically made to teach you how to make 3-Dimensional models and edit them.

Here is a link to a series of books on the subject:

AutoCad:
