Learn Computer Programming

Erin Said:

What's the best way to learn computer programming?

We Answered:

It depends on what type of computer programming you want to learn, which should be your first choice, as there are various different languages. If you want to learn how to do Windows desktop programming, then search for: "learn how to program in .NET"

If it's web programming on Linux, then search for Learn PHP, Learn Ruby on Rails (a growing popular language right now), learn perl, etc.

If the target system is Apple Mac then check the Apple developer area.

If you want to build a cool interactive website, I'd recommend PHP as a good language to get up to speed with quickly, but if you want to do Windows Desktop programming try Visual Basic.NET or C#, both of which pretty standardized. Basic programming concepts, particularly Object Oriented Programming (OOP) is fairly transferable to different languages, it is primarily the syntax that changes.

What are the first steps to learn computer programming?

Get a book like Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days by Jesse Liberty, and go through it. It will help a lot in college. I would suggest C,C++ or Java.

Can a person with average intelligence learn computer programming?

We Answered:

anybody can learn a programming language. i am a computer science student in college also, and i have had a passion for programming since freshman year in high school. the difficulty comes with being able to logically solve problems, translating them into computer code is easy. if you have the desire to solve the problem, you will be able to master the "art" of computer programming. as for how much time it takes...that all depends on when you are satisfied with what you know

I want to learn Computer Programming is it to late to start?

We Answered:

You're never to old to learn something new. In fact, learning new things is one of the best ways to help stay sharp.

Basic HTML is pretty straightforward -- it's a markup language, not a programming language -- and I'd suggest just jumping in and playing around with it a bit. Maybe start here:
http://www.htmlprimer.com/
and try making some simple web pages of your own (you just need a browser and a simple text editor to start).

For beginning programming, to get your feet wet maybe look here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/beginner…

Or, go to the web sites for some language like Python or Ruby and download the installer and read some tutorials to get started.
