Learn French Online

Heidi Said:

Is there a way to learn French fluently online?

We Answered:

You need a good course to learn a foreign language. Without some knowledge of the basic words and grammar you will feel totally lost when you have a conversation or read a text in that language. A good course is a well-organized system to learn something, that includes a good step-by-step approach.

Tips

But there are some very useful tips I can give you to learn a foreign language. For instance... Read comic books in the language you want to learn. Comic books generally use the type of language which is spoken by the people in the street. It’s also fun to read them and they are easier to understand because the pictures support the content of the text.

Also with children’s books, there are often pictures which show what a word means. A lot of children’s books start at the level and with the viewpoint of learning words, figures and other useful basic concepts to find ones way with the language in your environment.

Watch cartoons

Also cartoons generally use a level of language which is also meant to be understood by children and which is the type of language which is used in the day to day conversations. And again, the text concepts are supported by pictures.

Connect up with French speaking people

Once you have learned some basic words and grammar, there is no faster way to speed up your ability to speak the language than mingling with those for whom it’s their native language. Practice is the key, and where can you practice better than with them. The good thing is that you’ll be forced to speak French, there is no escape. So try to find a French speaking club or a French community and connect up. If you don't find one now, you can always try to find one when you go back... But it is better to just check the search engines before you go back, right?

Find a Pen pal

Once again, practice is vital, so use Yahoo or Google, or any other search engine to find a pen pal in France. Or maybe you still know somebody from when you were there earlier.

Another tip: Google Translation

This is a nice tool to use. You can type in words or sentences you want to learn in French and it will translate it for you. Than you can memorize them and expand your knowledge.

And if you are really serious about learning the language, check out the page in the source box. They have some great tools that will help you.

Hope that helps.
