I'm so excited that you want to learn Korean! I love learning new languages, and when I hear that someone else wants to learn my native language I get excited :)

There are actually a lot of online resources for Korean (although there aren't as many as Japanese, Spanish, Italian, etc). Here are some really great sites that I found were exceptionally helpful:

Start off with the alphabet. Korean has an alphabet like English, making the writing a little easier to learn than languages like Chinese where you have to memorize symbols (although Korean does have 'Hanja'... but keep that off your mind for now). Check out this chart to learn the letters: http://kckalf.org/sitebuildercontent/sit…

Then head off to this site to understand how to write in Korean (it'll help you understand how to "stack" the characters): http://langintro.com/kintro/first.htm

After you get writing and reading in order, check out this site: http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/

I swear, it's AMAZING~ It's free, too. It's from a credible university in Korea and offers a wide range of lessons from novice to intermediate. It'll help you understand reading & writing more as well.

And this website is fantastic for learning new vocabulary that will be useful: http://rki.kbs.co.kr/learn_korean/lesson…

And here's an additional resource for learning the alphabet and some grammar tidbits: http://www.mct.go.kr/koreanthroughenglis…

And for vocabulary, going to online flashcard sites is a lifesaver. They have so many words and are formatted for easy learning. This one's great: http://www.flashcardexchange.com/tag/kor…

I hope you have a great time learning Korean! Speaking it, in my opinion, is the hardest part (along with the formalities), but if you ever need help, you can PM me and I'll try helping out :D
