Your daughter is going to learn when she starts school. A friend of my daughter spoke spanish only when she entered Kindergarten. She is now finishing up second grade and the child refuses to speak spanish now. Her english is perfect and she has no accent. Recently we were at a restaurant and an Asian child (she's 6) began speaking to us and to our surprise her english was perfect despite the fact her parents only spoke Chinese. I asked her how she learned to speak so well. She proceeded to tell me that she learned by watching television. The child has no accent at all. My suggestion is that you continue to speak to your child in spanish because she will leave it behind soon enough. Ninos tienen la capacidad de aprender otras idiomas con rapidez. No te preocupes porque cuando empieza la escuela ella va dejar de hablar espanol y su preferencia va ser ingles. :( Enjoy her spanish now all that you can!!! =D

You are not the only one who has been wondering this, trust me. They think that laws and rules do not apply to them, unfortunately, thanks to our government, it sure seems that way.

Learning a second language may be hard, but if you are living and working in another country then you should have the decency and courtesy of learning that country's language!
As far as how long the process takes, yes it does take longer but only because there are so many immigrants coming to the US (of course it will take longer). Illegals are making it sound like it takes years and years and years, which is does not. Just another lame excuse on their part.

No illegal immigrant or illegal immigrant supporter has answered this question either. Why should the rules be different for Mexicans than other immigrants that come to the US??? Other immigrants came to the US, to get a better life as Mexicans claim. But they learn to speak English, adapt to the American way of life and become US Citizens.
