What's an easy way to learn the Thai language? We Answered:
If you go to a nearby software store. You can get Rosetta Stone. It's a computer program that helps you learn the language. Make sure you get the Thai version. They have all languages or you can order it online I believe.Leroy Said:

Im going to bankok and i want to learn basic thai language, where can i start.?We Answered:
Thai is a tonal language, which makes it vastly different to most other languages around the world (I believe a few other SE Asian dialects have similarities. This means it is a very difficult language for non-Thai speaker to learn. Plus, it has a completely unique script, which, while vastly beautiful, is very very complex and difficult to learn. My advise would be to invest in a language course on CD or DVD. It's best to learn any language, and particularly one so dependent on tones, via audio rather than written down. You could also try out a listen-while-you-sleep recording, which some people swear by. Try your biggest bookstore, such as Borders, or the biggest library you can find. even if it's not in that branch of the library, they may be able to order it in from another branch.
As for online, try www.learn-thai.com's online audio library (you can also buy CDs). Or go to http://www.learningthai.com/ for an alternative. Good luck!

Whats the average time that would take a person to learn Thai language for daily common phrase and verses? We Answered:
Many tourists rarely learn more than "hello" and "thank you" but still manage to have a good time in Thailand. Most of the places tourists go to will have someone who speaks enough English to help you get your point across. For some specific things you can have a small English -Thai dictionary and look up the word you need and have the Thai person read the translation. When shopping in a market if a vendor doesn't quite understand what you want they will call a friend over to translate. Hotels, department stores, bars, supermarkets, bus stations and train stations will have someone who speaks enough English to understand what you need.
Many foreigners will never be able to pronounce some Thai words correctly, for some words I think you have to learn at an early age just how to roll your tongue to get the proper tone.
By just learning a few numbers, a few simple phrases and the normal hello, big, small and thank you - you will know more than most tourists. If you think you will have to know more you can check out some language tapes from your hometown library. When I have played tapes like that to my Thai friends they kept laughing for some reason. Just worry about what hotel you will stay at and where you will go for fun and don't get all anal about speaking Thai. Just make do with whatever little Thai you can remember. It is okay to have a cheat sheet too it is not a test! Every year millions and millions of tourists visit Thailand with no language skills at all!
Good luck.
