A short study session every day works well for memorization. You could buy two 12-sided dice, roll them both, and try to compute the product in your head. Then you could check your answer with a chart.

I think that "instant" is the point. If you need 5 seconds' thinking time, you have not learnt them properly.

notice products are arranged

first column (0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) - 2nd column (9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0)

other example: table of 8

notice the 1st column (not totally organized but almost: 0,1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7,8) - 2nd column (start with eight, then subtract by 2, you get the sequence: 8,6,4,2,0,8,6,4,2,0........)

not all tables are that organized, and are just not worth memorizing, but knowing the easy ones can help
another example: table of 6 [pretty unruly example]

first column is a bit disarranged (but can be guessed, after a fashion) while second column has a pattern of (6,2,8,4,0,6,2,8,4,0........ all over again)

Also, looking for patterns. 1 x 1 endsin 1. So does 9 x 9. 2x2 and 8 x 8 both end in 4. What's going on?
