Many countries in the world don't even require kindergarten, and many of the students develop and learn normally.

However, it depends on the type of poor teaching. As another user suggested, if it is a strictly negative environment, then children are apt to become adverse to learning. As I remember kindergarten, we did many artsy projects and worked on phonics, basic math, and handwriting. Poor teaching of a core area in later grades (2nd and up) is more likely to disrupt learning and/or induce apathy toward learning later in life.

Environment! Here's an example: Let's think about a child whose ancesters were musicians but his parents are not. It doesn't matter if he has skills for music because in his environment there won't be any tools to develop such skills.
Check the movie about the wild child found in Aveyron France. Genetically he was a human being but he was raised by wolves and he behaved as one.

As we all know when seeking a doctor for a specific illness we have a specialist in that particular field of medicine; this is the same when it comes to the development of our children because they are each different and have different needs tha t require a specific attention. For example, if a child is is blind he/she would need a teacher who is qualified to teach him/her, if the child has a learning disability he/ she would need a specialist in that field to accomodate them. This is why there is on going classes and trainings in various fields regarding our children. Some people don't know what to do if a child has an allergic reaction to something versus children who have special needs. Certainly as the adult one would want options to select from as to who would or what agency would be better qualified to tend to his/her childs needs.

There is generally no major in Web development. Computer science is the standard.

Good schools for computer science include NYU, Holy Cross, BC, BU.

I'm afraid the main choice is psychology. Then you can specify child psychology or become an educational psychologist. You can get carework with children, or work in Special Needs in schools, but neither is well paid and as I said the main qualification that improves your prospects would be psychology. It may be "too much schooling" but it's an important and challenging career.
