How do you apply for funding for a College from the LSC (Learning Skills Council)?

We Answered:

Your college should be able to help you apply for this

Andy Said:

I am opening a FE College to offer courses, how do I apply for LSC (Learning Skills Council) Funding? HELP!!?

We Answered:

You ARE opening a FE college - or you are THINKING of opening a FE college? Ummmm... it doesn't appear you have done much research regarding this. Can I suggest that you access the LSC on-line, where I'm sure all of your questions will be answered.
As a matter of interest – are you in a position to finance a project of this nature – or maybe you are just having a ‘pipe-dream’??

Hazel Said:

Why is the Learning Skills Council not funding Adult Learning ('Lifelong Learning')anymore?

We Answered:

There was an article about this yesterday. It's because the government are withdrawing the funding so those adults who wish to continue to study are losing a lot of the courses, and those that will still have courses will have to pay double what they are paying now.

This is so that the government, who have failed the youngsters in school - so that when they leave they are not educated enough - can pump more money into laying on courses for 19 to 25 yr olds to try to make them more employable.

I will see if I can find the link....

The link may not stay active for very long so I have copied the info if you can't access it...let me know.

A couple of things: You need to remember to make "Learn Direct" consistantly capitalised throughout, and "Learning and Skills Council" needs "The" in front of it.

Here's a quick draft - I've marked my changes with ** to show what I have changed. Remember I'm just correcting the basics, not changing the content. Someone with a different writing style may make more sweeping changes.

The main aim of *the* Learning and Skills Council is to make England better skilled and more competitive. They want to improve *the* skills of England’s young people and adults to ensure that England *has* a well skilled workforce. This institution is responsible for planning and funding education and training for everyone in England other than those in universities. *The* Learning and Skills Council provide*s* useful information for 14-19 year old*s*, adult learner*s* and employers. Learn direct has similar aims *to the* Learning and Skills Council; however they *concentrate more* on offering alternative learning methods, rather than advising. They *are* aiming at improving career prospects through qualifications. Learn direct offers people the opportunity to learn at their own time*.* *T*hey offer many materials that are accessible at any time from the Internet, which *the* Learning and Skills Council *does not*. Learn Direct offers many courses covering a range of subjects, including ICT, business and management and skills for life. I have never used these sources of information; however I think that LSC is very effective in informing about available opportunities *while* Learn direct is effective in providing a wide range of online courses - For example for those people who left school with poor GCSE results.
