Learning Arabic Language

Jack Said:

Is there any Sawab in learning Arabic language?

We Answered:

Yes. Whatever you do for the pleasure of Allaah and according to the Sunnah/Way of the Prophet (saws) is worship and is rewarded. Learning the Qur'aan (which includes learning the language it was revealed in, arabic) is an act of worship in itself and what it leads to, from understanding the commands of Allaah, reciting it properly with understanding, acting upon it, teaching it, etc.

"The best of you are the ones who learn the Qur'an and teach it to others" [Bukhari]

Melinda Said:

do you think that there are many people who interested in learning Arabic language?

We Answered:

It largely depends on the student demographic and geographical location of the school.

I would want to learn a language if I would have some use of it in the future. Arabic is a difficult language to get vested into for just one year.

Learning Arabic!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

We Answered:

Arabic is probably more practical in business than French.

But from what I've recently seen in Shanghai, Mandarin might be the best foreign language to know 5 or 10 years from now.

Mae Said:

Does anyone know of a Arabic Language Software for learning that language?

We Answered:

As a speaker of Arabic I think that the language is very difficult to learn for non-native speakers. If you are really serious and interested in learning the language I suggest you take a class or even get a private tutor since I doubt that learning the language using a software is effective.

Gilbert Said:

What's the best way for learning Arabic Language ?

We Answered:

A lot of westerners think Arabic is hard to learn...and it is somewhat difficult. First, there's a different dialect for pretty much every Arab country. (gulf countries have the same dialect--countries like Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria are also similar). However, everyone in the middle east only writes in formal Arabic, and everyone understands each other that way. Writing Arabic is tricky since it there are many letters that don't have an English equivalent, and it might be hard to pronounce them. Lastly, understanding the meanings of phrases could be difficult. We use a lot of figurative language and metaphors. So, when u translate from Arabic into English, it might sound weird.

Overall, u gotta be real determined to learn it all the way and not get unmotivated if it becomes too difficult. But definitely go for it!! You'll be soo happy you learned it because it opens up the doors to the Arab culture, which is extremely interesting!

Good Luck!!
